Allowing family and residents peace of mind.
Few challenges are as daunting as searching for a senior community for a family member with Alzheimer’s or other dementia. Maple Ridge’s staff trains with top dementia educators to ensure personalized care that is of the highest caliber. This allows you to step back from being the caregiver and start to be family once more.
The cottage is structured to offer an engaging and supportive environment with comfort and ease of navigation in mind. By focusing on dignity, quality of life, and independence, we strive to ensure all residents feel respected and cared for as they age, regardless of what they remember today or tomorrow.
Memory Care Apartments
We know the importance of residents being a part of the daily activity in the community while still having their own private space that they know is just theirs. Maple Ridge’s apartments were designed from the beginning to cater to seniors. They allow simple and immediate access to all the necessities of life.
Assigned Life Enrichment Coordinators
In any situation, nothing can be accomplished without trust. That is especially true when dealing with dementia and Alzheimer’s. This is why we partner residents with a specific Life Enrichment Coordinator.
When relationships are made, it is easier for tasks to be accomplished and the coordinator can better communicate and notice small changes in behavior or health.
Most residents come to us because family members have become concerned with their well-being or are unable to provide the level of care needed. We understand that one top-of-mind concern for most families is finding not only a secure, but a welcoming environment. All safety systems in the memory care neighborhood are implemented in discreet, non-invasive ways.
Maple Ridge crafts specialized activity stations, called Life Stations™, which are dotted strategically throughout our memory care neighborhood to promote engagement opportunities for residents. These stations evoke important aspects of life such as travel, military service, fashion, outdoor excursions, and others in order to draw attention and engage residents. Life Boxes, specific to residents, are also made by our Life Enrichment Coordinators!
Caring for a person with memory loss can be an exhausting, frustrating endeavor. Some caregivers can feel cornered and as though restricting activity is the only solution. Maple Ridge has the training and resources to do the insurmountable tasks and make sure that residents get re-engaged with life.
Alzheimer’s and dementia can wreak havoc on nutrition and appetite. Maple Ridge implements a robust dining strategy to make sure that residents are receiving the nourishment they require. Meals with variety, engaging the senses to arouse hunger, evoking memories with classic favorites… All a part of the plan to make sure that residents are excited for their meals and satisfied at the end.
Grooming habits, once a routine task that required little effort, suddenly become difficult or impossible when dealing with dementia. That’s why we make sure that residents receive daily grooming and regular trips to the salon. Everyone deserves to feel like their best self.
Providing care for residents with dementia is a highly specialized skill – one that we develop with best courses in empathy, communication, and personal care. Our Care Partners and Life Enrichment Coordinators undergo extensive, above-and-beyond training to make sure that residents receive the best care possible.
Our Memory Care Leadership has the prerequisite tools, expertise, and heart to give attention that is second to none. They make sure that everything is running smoothly and that residents have all that they need from Maple Ridge and its team. They are always expanding their knowledge base with further education and understand the importance of being proactive in care.
